Days so far;

Things have reached a stalemate for the last week or so. There is basically nothing going for me but a bunch of inquiries that don't come full circle. Can say bad luck but at least there are still interest generated here or there for a draughting job. The other part time job (SPool) my fren help me to ask came to a dead end.The draughting jobs don't look too successful at face value, both ask if I can use Autocad? There is a limitation with only 1 week under my belt

First was recommended by a fren J to his fren Dan who runs a electrical company, if I was selected I will be contracted for 4 months and another 8 months after if they sealed the deal. Chances are very good and they are looking to tie up the project within the next month or so. I was naturally very happy and rush down to his company at the late hours of the evening for a interview. After the filling up of forms was ask to generate a Autocad drawing (in 2005 somemore), oh no not again. Naturally I was a bit slow and the supervisor comfirms it. Next was waiting for news that never came, so a bit fustrated.

Second was an inquiry with the help of another fren Ri, his boss company does logistic and for some of the storage components they are looking to hire a part time draughtsman to create some reference drawing. I said hell yes at least something but so far no news. Plus point is that it is 1 MRT stop away from my house but Minus point is that Ri told me his boss is very stingy.

Saw that my last company started looking for people again in the news and it just breaks my heart. It was indeed a bitter pill to shallow. I was throwing the letter of appointment out of the window when a interesting clause caught my eye. 'During the comfirmation period of 2 months, if a termination or resignation occur, it must be given 2 weeks notice from either party' F**k, how could I fail to see this one, at least I could stay on for another 2 weeks to practice Autocad 2004 and also earn some more money at the same time. It can help me in my future interviews.

Other than job hunting and resentment, I was caught up with the usual weekend predictions and chart updates. So , my weekend are usually tie up and a bit of monday/friday as well. However, did manage to catch up 2 shows for review as more time on hand.

First was Silk, a show with a combination of stars from Taiwan/China/Japan/HK. Most popular being Barbie Hsu (Big S from SOS) and Karina Lam, the main lead Chang Chen (CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON). The Japan lead seems quite popular in Japan too ,Yousuke Eguchi but I'am not so familar. Anyway, the show has a great story and the director (Su-cho Ping, remember Double Vision) really keep yu on your toes with tis one. Acting is above average too for a ghost flick. I dun really think the show is scary but it makes yu think which I guess ranks it as a intelligent movie. The story is about a group of scientists who captures a child ghost with a device call Menger Sponge which absorbs electromagnetic energy. There are several mysterious deaths in the process of discovering who the boy identity is and the victims sprouted silk from their torsos and limbs. Discovering the source of the silk lead to a greater sacrifice for all the scientists and investigators. Here is its website. I like it, go catch, really good show.

Second was a triller call The Prestige. It stars Hugh JackMan (Wolverine), Christian Bale (Batman), Scarlett Johansson, Piper Perabo, Michael Caine, and haha David Bowie. With such a strong cast, yu know acting is top notch and the storyline super duper. I went it just expecting a average to above average show but it knocks me off my feet, vintage stuff. I dun feel bored at all, the story flows too and not really a drag. Bale and Jackman will play rival magicians in turn-of-the-century London who battle each other for trade secrets. The rivalry is so intense that it turns them into murderers. Consequently jeopardizing the lives of everyone around them in the process. The title itself means the completion of a successful magic trick... The Prestige. Here is their trailer, enjoy, definally a good watch.

Well tomorrow I start work for R again and it is like got work do first, think later attitude. The money I received from my 1 week stinct as a draughtsman is still healthy, but I need to plan for my next month rent, I dun know where my mom spends all the money but I can see she is broke as well. I have pay our h/p and internet and not really left with much. I hope to go for a job fair at the end of the month and see how it goes. Also, my tele-marketing boss is holding on to my last week pay and I really hope they sent the cheque over. Sigh, also lost a small bit on soccer lately too like $15 overall for the month. It was not as bad as before but it is not that good either. Hey, will be catching DeathNote soon.... will preview next week if possible. Alious...

Farspider Dark Again;

Finally the good luck has ended, I am out of a job again; I was ask to leave yesterday (tues) by Lady D and until now I still dun believe it. Last week I was working an extra hour or so average from monday to thursday; only friday and sat left on the dot to take care of some things and swim of course. The day before I was sacked I worked until 9.30 to finish up on the urgent task. So I really dun have a clue behind the logic over the sack. Reasons Lady D/Boss gave was slow and no concentration. But as long as I get the job done I dun think I deserved this, a telling off or talking to maybe and to a extreme extend a deduction in pay maybe but I still dun warrant a termination.

The previous week only has an Autocad amendment project and a Autocad testing (archi)drawing. However, tiz 2 are the weakest in my experience as totally new to these. However, monday I received my first Microstation task and I was given it at 12 noon by D. After half hour of briefing I went for lunch and came back at 1.40pm. I was then show the folder on the drawings I was supposed to work on. Whah.... 10 folder average of 3 drawings each; all text amendment but around 15 rows or so per drawing; shit, I can't finish this. Even D herself admitted she has doubts about me finishing at 4 , all within 2 hours. Some more must be precise.... I am new to those relay/switch drawings and I have stop Microstation for 2 years, cum on cut me some slack. But still, a task is like a command in the army, yu just excecute it , be it whether yu like it or can finish it on time.

Naturally, I was slow at the start, after I did 1 drawing and double check, omg.... 35 mins gone. D offer some advice and direct me to some trends in the notation which enlighten me. I progress the other drawings in the folder and double check its validity. Sucks 3.20... I dive into the second folder and it was no surprise I was still at the 2nd folder at 4 but last drawing. I then decided since the pattern seems to be almost similar, I can do without the checking and just proceed with caution to compromise but that will mean speed will come down as I have to be more careful. True to the fact my drawings cut down to 25 mins per drawing by 6 and I finish 5 folders. Then D check on me and ask me to reduce my timing to 10 mins per drawing and she ask me to stay to complete it as the client needs it tomorrow.

I am ok with staying that but my mistake is not following her advice in quickening my pace. It takes a little getting used to so if I am fimilar with both software and drawing I think I can cut down a bit more, but that was asking too much at that time. I was maybe only getting used to the software but not the work. At 7.30, the boss ask me how was my progress and I reveal to him I was at folder 7, 1st drawing. He got agitated and insist I did not concentrate. I was getting hot too as I was really doing the best I can to get a breakthrough but decided to keep quiet as I needed the job badly. He projects my timing and say at the rate I was going I will be stuck until 11. I offered to close shop for him if he just show me where are the switches ,but he insists on overtime with me.

At 8 something boss came up to me again and ask if I needed a bite but I decline, at that point of time my pace has improved to 20 mins per drawing and I have finally had a breakthrough. D also sms me and ask me to leave as she feels bad, and I don't have the key to lockup. I told her I am fine and will report to her once everything complete, anyway, boss has the key and he's with me. Well, the first sign of trouble occur when boss came back with my light dinner (char siew pao) and throw it lightly on my table. My heart sank as 1 whole year of bad employment experience gave me a 6th sense that can detect something bad. I brush it aside as I really need to quickly get it done and go home. I also want to eat a proper meal too yu know! Finally I managed to shave the last couple of drawing s down to between 15 to 20 mins and completed my task at 9.30pm. Did ask the boss whether I can help him closed up if he's leaving but he wave me away in a cold shrudder.

Well, all of yu know what happens next and I was asked to leave under the reasons that I was slow and non concentrating. Cum on, it was my first task in Microstation and I still need some adjustment period, yu can't just pass judgement on a 1st task; do they see the gradual progress I made as the day go on. No...., even the boss anticipated I will finished at 11pm, but I finished at 9.30pm show a slight breakthru..... When D press me to say something at our termination talk, I ask if I fight for myself do I get a 2nd chance but the hint was not likely. I wanted to cry out but held back my tears, I perfer to leave with my head held high and not in shame or pity.

I seriously just think that as the boss he perfers younger people than me working for him but D insisted I have the more well rounded experience and drive or hunger. I do noticed greater allowances for other 2 younger interior designers that just came in during the same period but like my comic shop experience, remain to keep the thoughts to myself. Another possibility that I got canned was that maybe the boss wants to do something important at nite and I happen to intrude into the time frame. God knows what important biz info he is afraid that I will tune in to...roll eyes.

Nothing else really happens during the week except I was swimming again and saw the show 'Stayin Alive' (sucks). Dun really want to preview it as was awful. Silent Hill has a way better story and more frightening. Oh yeah, did visit the spa again yesterday as I really need to relax after going thru a roller coaster ride. Bad luck seems to accompany me everywhere suddenly, I lost my atm card when I was bankin in my pay and was really scared stiff, lucky no funds were withdraw and I quickly cancel my card. Also been carrying a toothache for the last 2 days sigh!

Today still no mood to look for a job yet, went to the bank, pay my h/p bills, went to the barber, blog and watch some telly. Did received 2 calls to ask about some new opportunities, first was from my telemarketing pal to ask me if I am interested in becoming a suveyor next week for Singapore Pools and it pays $50 per day, 6 hr work. I say hell yeah as I really needed the money, but nothing is comfirmed at tis point of time, just a inquiry. Second was R asking me my interest in opening a tour agency with him to venture into a new area, but I knew the license is very expensive and the visa application are very limited with only 2 persons so not my cup of tea. Life just slap me in the face again but I am used to it already....what else is new.

I start work tiz week....

It's been a hectic week for me, busy learning AutoCad 2004, and some basic architechual rules and representations ( I have never ventured into tiz field so I know nuts). Lucky I have a veri patient supervisor (Lady D), who teaches me both with a lot of enthusiasm. It is unfortunate that she can only teach me in the afternoon as she organised her schedule in the morning to go meet customer and run errends (sent drawings/collect cheques). Really capable for a young lady. She did got a bit frustrated with me today as I got the drawing of a floor plan all done wrongly due to wrong interpretation of info. But she recover her cool and advised me how I should approach it, try it on another floor plan today and I think I did ok, just hope she don't check too much error tomorrow, felt a bit embarrassed cuz my job is to lighten her drafting threshold but I seem more of a bunden to her. I think we are just going thru a transition stage of handling over of skills and that can be a bit over-whealming for her. Anyway, she selected 2 of the worst things to teach me, in terms of software and knowledge, both of which I am at zero ground .But at least my Autocad improved in leaps and bounds and I can do simple drawings already, but still far away from draughtsman standard. At least 1 in the bag!

Because of full time job and part time R job, I have to abandon my forecast of most of the leagues and concentration on top 6 leagues on my feeding site. I am still updating for the rest but I have no time to post it up. I even finding prepare and update of my normal leagues a big drag due to work. Take for example, when I was not working, my preparation work would have finished by friday after midnite , but it stretches till monday nite in order to complete. It doesn't help too when suddenly there was an inquiry about the Ipod model (mp4), and I have to make a effort last weekend to run to and fro between Toa Payoh (collect and deposit back) and Katong (show and tell). Well, at least there is a booking and the customer intend to call me back in another 2-3 weeks to collect. (they need to collect the cash, a group of students who want to sent their fren a go-away present or something). I was so flush with exhaustion that after I completed my prediction performance on wednesday (usually monday nite done). I had a sore throat, sneeze alot and have breathing complications due to the crazy Indonesia burning forests that generated a absurd amount of haze.

Back to my part time jobs, the tele-marketing job play a fool with me again, supposed to go down last saturday to collect my cheque but the supervisor sms me that the cheque will be mail to me on thursday and what yu know; yesterday received another sms that the cheque will be delay another week and I will get it next week in the mailbox. Sucks..... f**king angry. At least the previous cheque they own is coast clear to bank in today. And that cheque I will have to use it to pay my handphone/internet bills. I am just veri lucky I work for R during the last week of Sept, I collected $180 on the spot and I have been using it till today. Still left $100. I just spend on dinner for my mom/me ,lunch,newspaper, 4D and some batteries for my mp3 player to listen to at work. Well tiz week is international soccer and only 3 leagues in action, alreadi contemplating a swim tomorrow afternoon after work to improve ny health. hmmm.....a good break after 2 weeks of furious activities.

Story:

According to legend, Chang'e and her husband Houyi were immortals living in heaven. One day, the ten sons of the Jade Emperor transformed into ten suns (no pun intended), causing the earth to scorch. Having failed to order his sons to stop ruining the earth, the Jade Emperor summoned Houyi for help. Houyi, using his legendary archery skills, shot down nine of the sons, but spared one son to be the sun. The Jade Emperor was obviously not pleased with Houyi's solution to save the earth: nine of his sons were dead. As punishment, the Jade Emperor banished Houyi and Chang’e to live as mere mortals on earth.
Seeing that Chang'e felt extremely miserable over her loss of immortality, Houyi decided to journey on a long, perilous quest to find the pill of immortality so that the couple could be immortals again. At the end of his quest he met the Queen Mother of the West who agreed to give him the pill, but warned him that each person would only need half the pill to become immortal.
Houyi brought the pill home and stored it in a case. He warned Chang'e not to open the case and then left home for a while. Chang'e became too curious: she opened up the case and found the pill just as Houyi was returning home. Nervous that Houyi would catch her discovering the contents of the case, she accidentally swallowed the entire pill. She started to float into the sky because of the overdose. Although Houyi wanted to shoot her in order to prevent her from floating further, he could not bear to aim the arrow at her. Chang'e kept on floating until she landed on the moon.
While she became lonely on the moon without her husband, she did have company. A jade rabbit, who manufactured elixirs, also lived on the moon. Another companion is the woodcutter Wu Gang. The woodcutter offended the gods in his attempt to achieve immortality and was therefore banished on the moon. Wu Gang was allowed to leave the moon if he could cut down a tree that grew there. The problem was that each time he chopped the tree, the tree would instantly grow back, effectively condemning him to live on the moon for eternity
Meanwhile, King Hou Yi ascended to the sun and built a palace. So Chang Er and Hou Yi came to represent the yin and yang, the moon and the sun.

Wu Kang: " No lah, I just love the wildlife like the Darwin guy.....(from Aussie)"
